PHYS 3344 Grading Policy -- Fall 2021

You have to break a serious sweat to learn physics. Besides its elegance and beauty, the material is inherently difficult and it is common to be quite confused at times. That should not unduly alarm you. With patience and diligence, the confusion lessens.

Homework is issued weekly and is graded. I encourage you to work together on the problems. However, the final write-up must be your own work and follow the homework protocol described on the course landing page. Submitted homework assignments that are suspiciously similar, or look like they are a copy of some online solution site, will annoy me, and likely trigger a response whose outcome will not amuse you. There will be 2 in-class tests as well as a final exam. See the PHYS 3344 syllabus for details.

Your final letter grade will be based on a weighted sum of your performance on homework, quizzes (including class participation oriented ones), tests and the final exam. Individual assignments do not receive a letter grade. You should see me personally to know how you are doing in the course. A stellar performance on the final exam can result in a course grade much better than the average course performance would yield.
