Course Overview

Welcome to PHYS 3334, Classical Mechanics. This course, often referred to as your first "real" physics course, introduces you to a sophisticated treatment of single and multi-particle motion (including oscillatory motion), rigid body motion, special relativity, as well as the non-Newtonian formulations of mechanics of Lagrange and Hamilton that often provide dramatically simpler solution to problems than the Newtonian approach. Along the way, you will increase your mathematical sophistication and learn some math techniques well suited for solving physics problems.
