At the conclusion of PHYS 4211, the competent student will be able to:

in a practicum exam-like setting, build a simple op-amp amplifier of modest gain that operates at audio frequencies, use a signal generator and oscilloscope to measure the frequency response of a simple op-amp circuit;

in a practicum exam-like setting, plot experimental data in a plot that includes axes with clearly labeled quantities and their respective units, and to plot statistical errors associated with data points from a counting experiment.

in a written lab report, explain crisply the relationship between the quantum mechanical description of an atomic or nuclear system and the raw experimental observables;

in a written lab report, explain crisply the instrumental arrangement for a variety of quantum mechanical experiments and the sources of dominant or important systematic errors in the collected data.
