Textbook Sources
The SMU bookstore has Thornton and Marion, Classical Dynamics of Particles and Systems
5th edition, on its shelves. (Though last I checked, they had it for the wrong course: 3340.)
However, the least expensive source is likely to be the web. (The list price is outrageous.)
When I last taught the course, I used the 4th edition, and I'll mostly refer to
it to prepare lectures. Since then, the 5th edition appeared. If you have the
option, I'd recommend the 4th, but either would be fine, or even earlier editions.
(The only problem might be changes in the exercises, but I'll post them on our
web site.)
Some web textbook resources:
AddALL.com will give you a price comparison over a large
number of web sources.
BookFinder.com is similar.
Some specific sources I've found or had recommended are (there are many many more):
Amazon.com. This is the source I use most. I've had a lot of success
with their resellers, who tend to ship more quickly than Amazon itself.
Half.com (ebay), which will also give you a similar price comparison.
directtextbook.com, another price comparison site.
Barnes and Noble
