Physics 3333 / CFB 3333 Homework 3

Read the following two pieces, adapted from various sources. Analyze them using the tools developed in Browne and Keeley.

The revenue from the Texas Lotto is falling. Texans are not buying lottery tickets as much as previously.

It had to happen - the odds of winning are so tiny that, after a while and many losing tickets, they find better things to do with their money.

If they would reduce those odds and reduce the payouts so more people could win, they might get some of the lost business back. Winning something, even if small, is better than never winning at all.

The Texas Lottery must change if it is not to die a slow death.

So the Death Penalty Information Center claims putting a convicted criminal to death is costly.

I would say it is much more costly to support 25-year-old Mr. Rapist/Murderer in prison for the next 50 to 60 years.

Besides, society is fed up with the senseless murder of good, decent and innocent people like Melanie Goodwin. These evil murderers should forfeit their lives for the betterment of society. I have no sympathy for them.
