Testing Out and Placement Exams

POLICY EFFECTIVE 1 JANUARY 2005

TESTING OUT OF LABS:

We do not allow anyone to "test out" of any labs (e.g., Physics 1105, 1106, 4211). The essential element of the lab is the "hands-on" experience; we will not accept substitutes.

PLACEMENT EXAMS:

The department offers placement exams for Physics 1303 and 1304 only. The placement exam must be taken prior to enrolling in the course, and not later than the end of the student's first semester of enrollment at SMU---no exceptions!
The placement exam is modeled from the final exam in the Physics 1303 and 1304 courses.
