The Department of Physics at the Southern Methodist University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in experimental high energy physics to start in August, 2008. Outstanding applicants at the associate or full professor level will be considered in exceptional cases. We particularly encourage those candidates whose qualifications would strengthen the department. The Department of Physics has 12 teaching and research faculty members with research interest concentrated in the area of high energy physics. SMU has an active experimental high energy physics program with a strong presence on ATLAS, D0, NOvA and eBubble projects. Our current ATLAS efforts involve LAr calorimeter commissioning, data monitoring, software activities and R&D on the electronics for the LHC luminosity upgrade.
