Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher in the SuperCDMS group at
Southern Methodist University (SMU). The SuperCDMS collaboration is in the process
of building and deploying an experiment for the direct detection of dark matter. The
experiment is located in the Soudan Underground Mine in northern Minnesota. When
completed, the experiment will contain 15 Ge cryogenic detectors, each
photolithographically patterned to collect phonon and ionization signals from the
interactions of WIMPs in the crystals.
The successful candidate will be stationed at SMU in Dallas, TX and will be expected to
travel to the site of the experiment for detector deployment and operations several times
a year. Research possibilities will include analysis of SuperCDMS data, development of
DAQ, and development of detectors for low background material screening.
