PHYS 1314 Grading Policy - Spring 2000

  • Homework: 20%
  • Lab Quizzes: 5%
  • Lab Reports: 15%
  • Spot Quizzes: 10%
  • Tests: 25%
  • Final Examination: 25%

Homework is counted as either handed in (50% of the problems are honestly attempted) or not handed in.

See the separate web page for laboratory requirements.

Spot quizzes are unannounced and closed book. They are based on the reading for the lecture for the day and are easy if you have read the material.

Tests and the final are open note but not open book.

Disputes about the scoring of test questions will only be considered by me if the dispute is submitted in writing explaining the nature of the dispute.

There are no make-up homework, labs, quizzes or tests.

The lowest homework, quiz and lab report score are dropped. All test scores and the final exam count. The course is worth 1000 total points. So, a perfect score on the final, for example, would be worth 250 course points. Final course grades are ``curved.'' Effort is rewarded and will be considered when final letter grades are determined.
