How To Animate a Graph:

This file is located on the CMIT Server in the PHYSICS folder. Inside, you will find a PHY1304 folder. There are a number of interesting files in here.

This is a simple example of how to animate a graph. First, select the graphics you want to see, and then press the COMMAND-Y key. (You can also select the GRAPH menu, and find the ANIMATE SELECTED GRAPHICS command.) You can adjust the speed of the animation with the controls at the lower left of the window.

The following animation shows how 2 traveling waves can add up to make a standing wave. There are 2 thin lines waves, one moving to the left, and one moving to the right. The thick line is the sum of the two. Note that this is really a standing wave pattern with nodes and anti-nodes.
