The target of this hoax was vanity publisher PublishAmerica. A manuscript of a new science fiction story was offered to PublishAmerica in 2004, with PublishAmerica accepting it in December. On January 23, 2005 the authors revealed the hoax. On January 24, PublishAmerica withdrew its acceptance.
