Homework and Exam Policies and Procedures
| Getting Started: You must register with the homework service as soon as possible, use the WWW at "http://hw.ph.utexas.edu" and follow the Students' Instructions. |
| Homework distribution: I plan to post each homework set on the Web on or before the Sunday of the corresponding week as indicated on the syllabus. Starting on Mondays students must download the homework set from the Web. The due time will be posted with the problem set and on the homework service site. Due dates are typically one week from posting date. |
Homework collection: You must submit your homework on the Web before the due time. You may submit your homework in parts. To avoid the last minute computer traffic jam do not wait until the last minute, homework will typically be due on Monday at midnight. Some of the homework problems are time consuming and I urge you not to wait until the last minute to work on the problems, you will run out of time. Network downtime will not be accepted as an excuse for not completing assignments by due date.
Solutions: Solutions are available on the WWW after the due time.
| Records: A grade report for each assignment is on the WWW after the due time. A semester summary for work-to-date including the exams are also available on the WWW. Please consult your instructor for the interpretation of your performance. |
| There will be three midterm exams. Only a major emergency, verifiable through the dean's office, will justify a makeup. Students representing the university in official athletic or other competitions must make arrangements with the instructor at least one week before the exam. |
Exam dates are as stated in first day handout.
