Summer 2007
|
|

- The final course grades are
based on
- Homework: 20%
- Class Work (exercises
and quizzes): 25%
- Mid Term: 25%
- Final Exam: 30%
- Homework assignments are
assigned using the Homework system.
Please see course web page.
Guessing in multiple choice questions will earn negative points if
the guess is wrong. The
system will not accept any late homework.
- Class quizzes may be given
during class, unannounced, and roughly 10 minutes long. The quizzes
are mostly qualitative, designed to test reading comprehension.
- There will be hands-on
exercises during class. Class
participation and performance on the assigned exercises will have a major
impact on your grade. To
perform well you must come to class prepared by reading the assigned
material prior to class and answering the pre-class questions.
- All exams are closed-book,
and calculators are allowed. Each exam consists of multiple-choice
questions, some covering conceptual ideas, while others may be regular
problems. Important formulas will be provided. Instead of
memorizing formulas, you should strive to master the underlying physics of
the formulas and how to use them in various situations.
- There are no make-up
homework, quizzes, or exams.
- The lowest homework, quiz, and
class exercise grades will be dropped.
