Homework Policies and Procedures

Homework assignments, distribution and grading are done through a homework service run by the University of Texas at Austin.    The pre-lesson questions are handled through the same system.

·        Getting Started: You must register with the homework service as soon as possible.  As part of the registration process with the University of Texas Homework service you must create a UT EID number.  To create a UT EID number please go to this link:

https://utdirect.utexas.edu/nlogon/eid_suite/essentials/new_eid_warn.WBX.

·        After creating a UT EID: Go to this link:

https://hw.utexas.edu

login with the EID and password you just created and register for our class.  You may then download your first homework and pre-lesson.

·        For detailed instructions follow the Students' Instructions on this link.   After creating a UT EID you can then register for the Physics 1308 homework; you will need the class unique code which is: 13085.  Please read the student instructions carefully.  Pay particular attention to the scoring of multiple choice questions.

·        Homework distribution:  Homework assignments will be posted regularly and the due date clearly stated.  You will be notified by email as soon as a new homework is posted.  Be sure to periodically check the site for new assignments.   Homework will be due at midnight of the due date.

·        Homework collection: You must submit your homework on the Web before the due date. You may submit your homework in parts. To avoid the last minute computer problems do not wait until the last minute. Some of the homework problems are time consuming and I urge you not to wait until the last minute to work on the problems, you will run out of time.   Network downtime or computer problems will typically not be accepted as an excuse for not completing assignments by due date.

·        Solutions: Solutions are available on the WWW after the due time.

·        The pre-lessons are likewise collected from this same service.
