Note that Southwest Airlines now flies direct from Dallas to many major US cities at reasonable fares.For example, fares from Dallas to Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Boston are approximately $100 each way—including luggage. These fares will NOT show up in most search programs (Orbitz, Kayak, …) and can be booked directly at www.southwest.com

The Holiday Inn Hotel is located near (3min walk) the Mockingbird Station stop.Rental cars are not needed (everything is accessible by public transportation) or recommended (parking is limited).
SMU Shuttle Bus:
SMU has two shuttle buses that operate on campus between DART Mockingbird station and campus center:MUSTANG EXPRESS and MUSEUM EXPRESS.
Both are free to ride. The Mustang Express operates every 15 minutes and the Museum Express operates every 30 minutes.
Parking near SMU
Parking on campus is limited. There is a visitor parking map HERE There are some parking garages where you can pay including Moody (#98 on map) and Binkley (#63 on map).Note, parking garages can fill up mid-day. In this case you might be better parking across Central Expressway or at Mockingbird Stating and taking the shuttle bus.

Weather
Dallas is located in a subtropical zone with mild winters and hot and humid summers. The spring and fall are the most pleasant seasons. The typical temperatures at the end of April are in the range of 60-90 degrees Fahrenheit (15-30 degrees Celsius), but larger variations happen in some years. Plan to bring at least one short-sleeve shirt and some clothes for possible 1-2 days of colder or rainy weather.
