The Problem
(as posed by John Stewart Bell to theory colleagues at CERN's canteen)
Ship A ----------------------------------Ship B
Station
Initially, Ships A and B and the Station are at rest relative to
one another.
Ships A and B are connected by a light string which is stretched
taut. The string can withstand only slightly more tension before it
will break. On reception of a signal from the Station, Ships A and B
blast off simultaneously to the right with identical CONSTANT
gentle accelerations equal to one Earth gravity.
Question: What happens to the string?
